The blaze at 72 Mamaroneck Road in Scarsdale broke out around 1 a.m. Monday, Jan. 21 as heavy smoke billowed from English Manor home on more than an acre of property, which was built in 1927.

Crews from more than 10 municipalities, including as far away as Buchanan in Northern Westchester, battled not only the fire, but the elements, with the wind-chill factor in the negative teens as Mamaroneck Road and some surrounding streets were shut down.

The fire was finally brought under just around 6:30 a.m., with firefighters remaining on scene through the morning to prevent flare-ups.

No injuries have been reported.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
